[on working with Robert De Niro in New York, New York (1977)] Sure, a class-A bastard. After the sneak preview in San Francisco, Bobby said to me in the car, “I don’t mind being a bastard, as long as I’m an interesting bastard.”

It was no great tragedy being Judy Garland’s daughter. I had tremendously interesting childhood years – except they had little to do with being a child.

[on the death of Michael Jackson] He was a kind, genuine, and wonderful man. He was also one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived. I loved him very much and…

[on working with Heath Ledger] My experience was wonderful. It was the experience of…loving to act myself, to watch somebody who loved his character and had the discipline to make a bold creation. I found myself trying to keep up with him and I was also admiring him at the same time. I watched him off-camera and on-camera, as an actor, to see his process. After the day was over, I shook his hand and said, ‘That’s why I’m an actor – ‘cos of guys like you’. So I treasure that time with him…He was brilliant, he was brilliant to watch, he was brilliant to see on a daily basis, on set in the makeup trailer, when we were putting on our makeup together. I was doing Harvey’s and he was doing the Joker’s and trying to figure it out…

I literally had a very articulate, though highly impaired, homeless man say to me, “Smokey! I love you! What’s happening with Jacob?” Here’s a guy living on the street, but he finds a way to watch Lost (2004)! And I’m looking at him, thinking, Your priorities are completely ass-backward.

Married to: Angela Bassett (12 October 1997 – present) (2 children)

I’ve done a lot of Shakespeare as a young man; I was involved with Shakespeare and Company.

I’ve done a lot of movies, but my favorite was ‘Blind Faith.’

When I got out of Yale Drama School, I was completely broke.

The life of an editor is not a glamorous one. You’re a fixer; you make things better.

I’ve done a lot of theater, and I know that it’s a different audience each time who doesn’t know the story, and we have to tell it.

Scientology delivers what it promises under the guise of tearing away falsity, neuroses, psychoses. It creates a brainwashed, robotic version of you. It’s a ‘Matrix’ of you, so you’re communicating with people all the time using Scientology.

Born: March 12, 1984 in Greenville, South Carolina, USA

Was on her high school wrestling team.

Had a body double for the steamier scenes in Rest Stop (2006).

Was raised in Grapevine, Texas.

Her career was launched in 2003 when she was cast in the leading role of Hanna Thompson in the low-budget award-winning film The Other Side (2006).

According to the DVD commentary, she was originally at the audition to help out by reading against the male actors, but director Gregg Bishop decided to cast her in the leading role after hearing her perform the lines.

I wanted a woman who had the body and the power of a real pilot. I interviewed hundreds of woman, but Jessica just seemed perfect for the part. I couldn’t get her out of my head. I continued to bother her and she finally gave in.

No two directors make the same film the same way.

Be happy or die.
