When it comes right down to it, it’s the honest-to-God emotion that all lead players are after – the nice ones, and even some of the villains as well.
Romance as a genre is after all, about amore, and when you choose a title to read there’s lots of things you expect and sometimes that can lead to monotony. A beautiful heroine who finds love. A handsome man who finds love. That’s nice – but isn’t it just a bit, well, predictable?
What about the heroine who is in the eyes of the world less than perfect? Think Bridget Jones. Think Ugly Betty. For you classic lit and poetry lovers – think Elizabeth Barret Browning.
